When do i need to change the timing belt on my 94 buick regal it has 170000 miles on it now ?

the good news is that from what i see it has a chain not a belt. a belt would have failed already. the chain has a very long life expectancy. you replace it when you rebuild the engine. that goes for both the 3.1 and the 3.4 l engines.
