Got soap spots on my antique copper faucets. It looks like white or dried soap spots.?

When I wet it it seems to disappear but it dries with white spots.They were in a new modular home so that gives you the idea they are cheap but they all match through out the house. Please help me with this. I know I cannot use anything harsh?????
